Telegram ERR: what it means and how to use it
ERR, or engagement reach rate, estimates the share of subscribers reached by a typical post. It is more useful than subscriber count alone because it connects audience size to observed delivery. ERR is still only one metric and should be read with growth, reactions, post age, and channel size.
How ERR is calculated
Divide median views per mature post by the subscriber count and multiply by 100. Median is preferred to mean because one viral success or failed post should not dominate the result.
For example, 1,000 median views and 20,000 subscribers produce ERR of 5%.
What is a good ERR?
There is no universal normal value. Smaller specialist channels often reach a larger share than mass-market channels. Compare channels of a similar size, niche, posting frequency, and age.
Extremes matter: very low ERR can indicate inactivity, while implausibly high and uniform ERR can indicate manipulated views.
Why advertisers should care
Advertising buys exposure, not the number printed in a profile. Absolute mature-post views and ERR provide a better starting point for estimating how many people may see a placement.
